On June 14, 2024, leading stakeholders and committed experts joined forces to outline pathways toward lasting stability and enhanced prosperity in West Africa.
On Friday, June 14th, 2024, Choiseul Africa organised a breakfast meeting in Paris, gathering influential figures to discuss development prospects in West Africa. This strategic moment is marked by a series of coups and an evolving political climate in the Sahel region. In this context, political and institutional stability is more crucial than ever to ensure sustainable growth and strengthen international relations.
West Africa, facing governance, security, and development challenges, must imperatively bolster its stability to support both local populations and the international community. Although economic forecasts are optimistic, with growth projected at 3.7% in 2024 and 4.2% in 2025-2026, this dynamic requires the strengthening of democratic institutions and political stability to create an environment conducive to international investments and inclusive growth.

These speakers shared their visions on the current situation in the region and future prospects, particularly in light of the 2024 elections in Senegal, Togo, Mauritania, and Ghana, which are seen as pivotal for strengthening democracy and institutional stability. The discussions highlighted essential questions: how can democratic institutions be reinforced in the context of ongoing political transitions? What measures can be taken to ensure sustainable economic growth while consolidating political stability and fostering engagement from international investors?
The prosperity of West Africa hinges on the collective ability to establish solid foundations, ensure peaceful political transitions, and revitalize inclusive growth.
