On Thursday, May 23^rd, 2024, Choiseul Africa inaugurated the Club Choiseul Africa in Abidjan, a strategic event bringing together nearly 130 prominent figures and decision-makers from Ivory Coast and the sub-region. This gathering provided a privileged opportunity to discuss the European Union’s ambitions in Ivory Coast, as well as the opportunities offered by the partnership between the EU and Ivory Coast, particularly through the Global Gateway and Eurocham programs.

In the presence of H.E. Francesca Di Mauro, EU Ambassador to Ivory Coast (Delegation of the European Union to Ivory Coast), the event facilitated discussions on current economic and diplomatic issues, with afocus on the EU’s strategic investment in Africa, aiming for nearly €150 billion in investments by 2027. This commitment is part of an ambitious vision for economic development and infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on the energy transition and long-term investments in sustainable projects.

As the European Union undertakes major investments in Africa, a reflection is necessary: how can we ensure that these initiatives equitably benefit both Ivorian and European private sectors, while maximising the impact of the Global Gateway and Eurocham programs on local economies? The sustainability of the partnership between the EU and Ivory Coast relies on strengthened collaboration and joint action, capable of addressing global economic challenges while respecting the aspirations of both continents.
