The first Choiseul Africa Summit inaugurated a strategic platform for dialogue where African and European visions come together to build a lasting partnership, a catalyst for transformation on the continent.
On June 15 and 16, 2015, the laureates of the Choiseul 100 Africa were present in Paris. This first Summit laid the foundations for an ambitious project: building solid bridges between continents and establishing a collaborative ecosystem to support economic and social transformation in Africa. During the two-days event, the Institut Choiseul and its partners organized a number of meetings with the highest government authorities and the best representatives of the French business community.
The Summit explored crucial issues for African economic development in a rapidly changing global context. Topics included innovation and digitalization, with a focus on the infrastructure and policies needed to foster inclusive adoption of technologies. Discussions also focused on infrastructure and mobility, examining how strategic public-private partnerships could meet the continent’s needs while strengthening its sovereignty. Responsible finance and investment were also at the heart of the discussions, underlining the importance of channelling capital towards impact projects in line with international expectations in terms of sustainability. Finally, the central role of young people, who account for over 60% of Africa’s population, was examined, along with ways of transforming this demographic potential into an engine for growth and innovation.
