Moulay Hafid ELALAMY
Former Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment, and Digital Economy, Government of the Kingdom of Morocco
On November 26 and 27, 2015, Marrakech, an emblematic city in the Kingdom of Morocco, hosted the third edition of the Choiseul Africa Summit. The event brought together the laureates of the Choiseul 100 Africa Ranking as well as economic, political and social players, to map out concrete avenues for transforming the continent.
At the time, Africa was at a pivotal point: boasting sustained but uneven economic growth, a youthful population in search of opportunities, and immense potential in terms of innovation and natural resources. For Morocco, the event confirmed its role as a strategic hub between sub-Saharan Africa and Europe, and its position as a leader in South-South partnerships. These collaborations, alternatives to traditional North-South models, strengthen regional integration and intra-African trade.
In this context, green finance and digital transformation have already emerged as key pillars of development. Supported by dynamic ecosystems, these levers encourage innovation, while responding to climate and economic challenges. With a youthful majority and a growing role for women, the continent has a unique potential to shape a new generation of inclusive and visionary leaders.
