A first in Algiers for the Choiseul Africa Summit

Under the High Patronage of His Excellency, President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika, the Institut Choiseul brought together the Choiseul 100 Africa winners and numerous European leaders in Algiers on May 14 and 15, 2017. This summit highlighted African dynamics and Euro-African cooperation opportunities, in the heart of a symbolic capital of the continent.

In a context where rapid urbanization is transforming Africa and companies are emerging as pan-African champions, this event provided an opportunity for strategic exchanges on concrete solutions to common challenges. Algiers proved to be an ideal crossroads for bringing together these talents and strengthening synergies between continents.

Urbanization and pan-African champions: building tomorrow’s Africa

These two key sessions explored the challenges of African development, addressing growing urbanization and the role of pan-African companies. The “African City of the XXIᵉ Century” panel looked at strategies for developing modern, resilient infrastructures that meet the needs of a rapidly growing population. How can rapid urbanization, inclusiveness and sustainability be combined? What solutions can make cities engines of economic and social transformation ?

The discussion “The rise of pan-African champions” highlighted the role of local companies in an integrated, sustainable economy. What models of success can guide these champions? How can we strengthen their impact on regional integration and value creation ? These reflections opened up concrete avenues for a future where urban innovation and economic leadership come together for sustainable growth.
